Amadeus: A Remake

As mentioned in my previous post, I am going through the play/film of Amadeus and re imagining it in 2017.
In my humble opinion, I think Amadeus should not be remade, but this is just for fun!

So, here we go-

Father Vogl- Salieri's confident, the priest that goes in and listens to Salieri's confession and life

Originally Richard Frank

I choose: Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter series, Me Before You)

Caterina Cavalieri, a singer and love interest to both Wolfgang and Antonio

Originally Christine Ebersol (SNL, The Wolf of Wall Street)

I choose - Jasmine Cephas Jones (Hamilton) Her vocals in Hamilton's "Say No to This" are phenomenal, she deserves for her talents to really be shown.

Count Hieronymus von Colloredo, Austrian royalty who first hires Mozart to play until Wolfganag and his father are kicked out

Original- Nicholas Kepros

I choose- - Jesper Christensen (Casino Royal, Spectre) His work in the Bond films alone prove his talents.

Gottfried van Swieten, an adviser to Emperor Joseph, caught in the middle of the three advisers.

Original- Jonathan Moore

I choose- Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park, Posh Nosh) Grant is such a chameleon, he can do anything I think.

Giuseppe Bonno, an adviser to the Emperor, the first of the three that Mozart grows on.

Original- Patrick Hines

I choose- Mark Addy (Game of Thrones, Still Standing) Addy has that normal guy vibe that would be a good fit for the easy going Bonno.

Emanuel Schikaneder, an actor and friend of Mozart that never made it big and now parodies his operas.

Original- Simon Callow (Four Weddings & a Funeral, Howard's End) who originated Mozart.

I choose- Bill Skarsgard (IT, Anna Karenina) He is talented, blends in well, like an actor should do.

Orsini-Rosenberg, the chief adviser to Emperor Joseph, the last of the three that accepts Mozart.

Original- Charles Kay (The Importance of Being Earnest, Doctor Who)

I choose- Jonathan Hyde (Jumanji, Titanic) Hyde is one of favorite actors, he has done everything under the Sun, so of course I would put him as a snooty adviser.

Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor who does not care too much what Mozart does because he loves his operas. Puts the watching of Mozart's life unto his advisers.

Original- Jeffery Jones (Ferris Beuller's Day Off, Beetlejuice)

I choose- Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings series, Rudy) A likeable, relaxed guy that has a baby face just like the real Emperor Joseph.

Leopold Mozart, Wolfgang's father who is immensely proud of his son, but disapproves of his ways and his wife.

Original- Roy Dotrice (Swimming with Sharks, Nicholas and Alexandra)

I choose- Mark Rylance (Much Ado About Nothing, Dunkirk) Rylance has a Shakespearean background, which is key in playing these type of roles.

Maria Constanze Mozart, Wolfgang's wife who despises her father-in-law and tells Wolfgang not to work so hard.

Original- Elizabeth Berridge (Results, Please Give)

I choose- Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, X-men) Turner can play mean and sympathetic at the same time,

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the composer that worked too hard, laughed too much, and did not take life too seriously until it caught up with him.

Original- Tom Hulce (Parenthood, Animal House)

I choose- Jonathan Groff (Glee, Frozen) Groff is young, has a career ahead of him and honestly looks like the real Mozart. He can only go up from here. Groff has a lot of talents that need to be shown.

Antonio Salieri, the true protagonist of the story. The best character of the show. His whole life he wanted to do well and write great music. He became famous, but in his own way.

Original- F. Murray Abraham (Scarface, The Grand Budapest Hotel)

I choose- Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient, Red Dragon) Fiennes is one of my personal favorite actors of all time. He has shown his emotionless side in Schindler's List, his sadness in The English Patient, and now his envious side in Amadeus.

Well, that is it! All of my rambling. Tell me your thoughts!
